KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Local Government and Housing Ministry is expected to launch 5,001 units of houses under the MyHome scheme in collaboration with the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) starting next month.
Its minister Datuk Hajiji Noor said the first of such housing projects called Timbok Jaya would consist of 1,200 units of affordable apartments in Tuaran and another 400 units in Kota Marudu.
"Apart from that, 86 units of single-storey terraced houses will be launched in Beaufort called Taman Luagan Jaya this June while Taman Sinar Indah also in Beaufort will consist of 589 units of double-storey terraced houses.
"Taman Sri Indah in Tawau will see 1,072 units of affordable apartments being built later this year while more than 1,600 units of landed properties and apartments will be built under Ria Heights also in Tawau," he said in a statement here, Monday.
Hajiji commended the efforts of Shareda members, who are expected to build some 10,501 units of affordable houses in the near future.
"It is understood that Sabah developers are applying for 30 of their projects to be included under the MyHome scheme and for which the application starts tomorrow," he said.
For this year, he said, the government had allocated RM300 million as subsidy for 10,000 units of affordable houses throughout the nation, with two categories under the MyHome scheme - MyHome1 and MyHome2.
The price range of houses under MyHome1 for Sabah and Sarawak is between RM90,000 to RM120,000. After subsidy deduction, first-time house buyers will only have to fork out the balance of RM60,000-RM90,000.
Under MyHome2, the houses cost RM120,001-RM250,000 for Sabah and Sarawak but with the subsidy house buyers will only have to pay between RM90,000-RM220,000.
Developers and buyers can apply by downloading the application form via the website of the National Housing Department at http://ehome.kpkt.gov.my.
